Magnapan Hardwood frame upgrade begins - MGIIIa

At least with tweaking the crossover you can spend time turning knobs instead of money for parts. Save up that money for the next upgrade. And I know what that is already.

Any high current amp should not have a problem driving a 2Ω load to less than 25% the output of the midrange or woofer amp.

This is the final post! - Wow! these things are the real deal, and I must confess, I experienced the first mylar slap since I have owned these speakers! Boost to the bass panel created it. These are scary good, and the $$ and time invested are worth it. Anyone who needs info please PM me, if I don't return ASAP I'm probably immersed in music.:music::music::music:
Regards,
Jim

Congrats Jim!! I knew you would be Impressed once you got them done and a little broken in. They are Truly Amazing aren`t they? Enjoy the Music!!! :music::music::music:

ehoove, I just ran across this thread, you still have these MG-IIIa's? I just picked up a pair a few months back and got them up running mostly stock and liking them. Though, seeing what you did gets me a thinkin.....

Check out some of the posts Jim has started. He has really stretched what these speakers can do with quad-amping, sub, woofer, mid and tweet each have their own amp, last two are tube units. Do a bit of looking around and I'm sure Jim will drop in and tell you more.

What a trip down memory lane, and yes the speakers are still in play and performing flawlessly 14 yrs later!
Regards,
Jim

Steve is building wooden supports for the tweeter and the ribbon midrange drivers for his Tympani IVa speakers he bought partially based on hearing your system. Magneplanars are something special.
