Magnavox 330024-1H 606341 Output Transformer

Hi,

Dose anyone have sepcs for a Magnavox 330024-1H 606341 output transformer ?

This transformer is on my AMP101

I need a replacement or a modern day equivelent.

Can anyone help ?

The Sams folder says 5000 Ohms to 2.5 Ohms, tapped at 1.5 Ohms. I tend to take their ratings with a grain of salt. 5K sounds right for a quad of 6V6s, 2.5 Ohms would match the two 5 Ohm speakers listed, so sounds good. Are you using it with original speakers? A 6.6K to 4 Ohm would have about the right ratio. The important thing is fit - measure the core size. If you get another one of the same core size, you can use the old top end bell and it will look original.

No, no sepakers in mind yet but will but will likley be useing new / recent ones.
I have an intact AMP101 which is said to be pulled from a working console.

I would like to find an output transformer to match the original and convert the amp into a stereo push pull.

Any input, suggestion, or bail out remendation will be appreciated.

You could probably look for a junk 9300 series stereo amplifier or AMP 175 or 185 transformers. The AMP101 has Four 6V6 tubes where two each can be used in push/pull for stereo.

The 101 is push-pull-parallel 6V6. In terms of transformer matching, its closer to a pair of 6L6 tubes than any other two-tube output transformer. A trafo off a 175 or 9300 isn't even close. The 101's transformer is a lot larger too.

Yes, this I know but I didn't seem to convey it properly so I was thinking if he was converting it to stereo with the four existing 6V6 tubes split in stereo push/pull, two transformers from one of the 175 amps could certainly be used to convert the 101 to stereo........or if you have/had a 175/185, to just restore them instead of pirating their transformers.

So here's the deal KPM61, just keep your eyes out for another AMP101 for stereo! :yes:

I personally don't think I would pirate another AMP101 just for its output transformer.

EDIT: I suppose the 9300 uses the 6BQ5 tubes so their transformers are not the one's I was thinking of.

The existing transformer may not be the best if you want to convert to a stereo amp, as the ideal impedance for a pair of 6V6s is around 10K. Although the existing transformer ratio would match 10K to 5 Ohms, it will also lose an octave of bass response and may roll off faster on the high end. The AMP101 isn't the best for converting to a stereo amp, as it only has the four power tubes and an input transformer. You'd have to add two more sockets for driver tubes.

So definitely try to find another AMP101 for stereo. I see them around here and on the bay from time to time.

Swap the 6V6 quad for a pair of 6L6 and you're in the neighborhood of something that works. You'd need a matching output transformer, and it would need a driver circuit to work though.

Or you just run it as a pair of mono amps with a driver stage added. I ran across a thread from GordonW about converting the 101 into a 142, which is apparently the same output stage but with a driver on the amp vs on the preamp.
