Magnavox tube console rebuild

Hi everyone, really hoping someone can help. So I basically gutted out a Magnavox stereo console and am replacing the solid state amp with a 8601 Magnavox tube amp and Magnavox tube tuner. I had to completely remove the old bezel/faceplate and make am making a new one out of wood. I want to also work on the turntable so was hoping to have some help identifying the turntable model number and which needle and idler wheel is used. Hope these pics help.

Post a new thread with pics of the turntable in the turntables forum. It's bigger than tubes and there'll be lots of people there who don't look at tubes threads much.

I believe so as well, it did say run 1 on the cabinet. Its going to be a Frankenstein when I'm done with it but will be nice looking. I'm adding some miniature lamps to the console besides the dial and pilot lights ill mount one for the turntable and record storage area.

So I figured out the needle and I was starting to work on the tuner I have which is a model 7911 tube tuner and the selector switch is bad. Any clue on a good replacement? Its a 6 selector with on off switch.

That's going to be tough short of a donor from a similar tuner. Any chance it can be repaired?
 
Whats wrong with the switch? Those rarely go bad in any significant way. Dirty is usually the worst of it.
 
What RWood and gadget73 said. If you can't get it working there's a good chance that somebody on vintagehifi.net will have one. The site includes all consoles but is mainly dedicated to Magnavox.

The selector switch can continued to be switched 360 degrees. It should have a stopping point right? Pretty sure something is broken in it. I am trying to find a donor, pretty set on getting this console 100 percent working.

I will have to check that site out tomorrow if they are all about the Maggie. I'm hoping to find an original tube console around my area someday. Till then ill be fixing up one piece by piece.
 
There is usually a stop tab on the very front of it. Unmount it from the front panel and have a look. Its pretty basic stuff, just a metal tab sticking out from the fixed part that rides in what looks like a washer with a chunk missing attached to the shaft. Probably someone cranked on it and bent the tab. You can probably see what the issue is. It may also still work fine as long as its rotated to one of the positions.

Thank you, yeah ill have a look. I feel like it's also really dirty or not clicking into the right place on both channels at the same time. One channel will be working and the other will just hum then if I work it I can get both channels. Just ordered new tubes and caps for the tuner and amp otherwise I would just buy another tuner in working condition and throw it in there. But also just made the bezel and that to fit this one so would like to find another one of these.
 
Could be the detent is messed up, likely part of the same problem . Should be a ball bearing with a spring washer clicking it into some detents to make it go. Cleaning these can be a pain since they're semi-sealed but if you spray some cleaner in and work it back and forth a bunch of times it usually does the trick.
 
The good news, if it is beyond repair, is that many people here on AK ditch the tuner and rebuild/reuse the power amps. So there might be someone in our midst who has a donor waiting for you. You could become an AK Subscriber and put a wanted ad in Barter Town.
