Who are you people anyway?
On my way to Taco Bell, I stopped at my GW. Went back to the electronics and for $6.99 each, was a pair of QUAD ESL-63 Electrostatic Speakers. They are now mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No time to set up and photo, will do that tomorrow. Oh happy days.

Plug them in, turn them on, and hope there are no squealing noises coming from them. Most likely there will be, which means you'll need to invest ~ $2K to refurbish them. Well worth the cost, IME.

They don't have ribbons...

Dunno, man... For just a little bit more, you could have bought some new speakers like those Andrew Jones Pioneers everyone is talking about and had some real speakers!

:lmao:

This may be one of the most expensive whatever you called it because you now need to upgrade your entire system to keep up with these speakers. Hopefully, you can do that on the cheap, too.

Had to help chicks with the down side of such a nice addition to the collection. Enjoy.

Holy s***.

MAN.

A set of speakers I really desire. Here you get them for $13.98 plus tax... you BUGGER. Regardless of chicks saying that you may need to invest some serious coin in these, just remember, at least you HAVE a set. Most of the time you buy an unrestored set for around a grand, and THEN you have to spend that kind of money.

These are a hell of a speaker, and guessing by your enthusiasm you know this. So even if you don't have the money now, put them aside, and save!!!

What do these speakers look like? And I'm guessing that these speakers work on the same principles as the old Electrostatic Tweeters that used to be used in old HiFi tube radios? Sorry for my lack of knowledge with these types of speakers.

Look like this. Yes, they're full-range electrostatics, with several smaller panels combining together as a single unit. Peter Walker added concentric rings, driven through delay lines, to simulate an ideal point source, with the apparent source about a foot behind the speakers.

They have extremely low distortion, as low as many amplifiers above 200 hz, no crossovers, and extremely fast transient response, making them among the cleanest sounding speakers you're likely to hear. Pure pleasure to listen to. Mine aren't going anywhere, ever.

Thanks for posting the image. The wood trim needs a little TLC, but the overall condition is very good. I'll post mine later.

Damn it! I know you're not far from me. To think those speakers were just sitting there waiting to be rescued. :sigh: Oh well. Take care of them and they will treat you kindly. :music:

Hey guys, what kind of power do Quads like? I've heard JohnVF's pair but I don't remember what amp he was using. How would they sound with my Bel Canto mono blocks? :scratch2:
