Marantz 1060 Recap/Rebuild

Here is the bottom of my unit after cleaned up. I notice main power cap positive pole has 2 positive leads, one from the rectifier and one to power amp.

I don't know how to translate this to 4 pold cap. I am assuming positive from rectifier goes to positive in from cap, and cap positive out would go to power amp board, no sure his to connect the bunch of black negative wires... Any direction would be appreciated :)

The + from rectifier goes to the "positive in," then the wire going to the amp board goes to "positive out."
All the ground wires go to "negative in," and the "negative out" goes to that ground strap.

That little power supply board cracks me up. Its taller than it is wide. Good job, keep up the good work:thumbsup:
 
I am doing a 1st recap and chose the 1060 as there is so much good advice here, besides of course it being a solid vintage amplifier choice, so I'm following your thread closely, though you'll have probably done 3 more amplifiers by the time I complete the P800. Your rebuild is more extensive than most. What is the reasoning for refreshing the resistors? are any removed showing incorrect values? What audio gain do you expect from the choice of m-lyics over your previous choices?

Just got back from vacation....Now to get this Done....

As you said...many threads on this Little Beauty. After talking with a few on other Recaps/Mods. This 1st rebuilt was there input. And I can say...WOW.

For the 2nd build....Going to change out the Main Caps, Films and Resistors. Why the Resistors? Just would like to hear if there is any change in the
sound. What I have been removing so far are within 10% range. I wanted to go with Audio Grade resistors.

Mundorf M-LYTIC I have used and the separation of Instruments (Marantz 2230) was noted.
 
Welcome back! Looking forward for your updates. I was looking to your 1060 recap, I noticed the local power supply filter capacitance increase in the phono board and pre amp board from stock 100uf to 330uf and 220uf, respectively. Is this just a way to improve filtering for quieter operation or there is other benefits as well?
 
One of the 2 disc ceramics on the P800, well it got a warming and is a little glossy on top and though I haven't tested it yet I'm lining up a replacement. 0.01mFD, 500V. These are never routinely replaced, I hope nothing should be lost, but is it good practice to replace the pair and could alternatives to ceramics have any advantage?
