Marantz 1122DC help with repair

Hi everyone. I posted some time ago for assistance repairing another Marantz unit and got the help I needed, I am hoping that the knowledge and expertise in this forum can help me again. I powered on my Marantz 1122DC this morning to find that it was crackling and the red power light was rapidly coming on and off. I know from the repairs on my previous unit that this is likely a problem with the power switch.

I have to take this unit apart and I am wondering a few things.

1.) When I take this unit apart, is there anything I should do right away? I am amateur at best and I want to avoid shocks and that sort of thing. Obviously I will have it unplugged, and I probably won't be working on it until I have new parts if I need them.

2.) Other than taking the opportunity to clean all the of the switches, should I try to repair this power switch, or should I replace the power switch?

3.) Depending on the answer to number 2, how should I go about a repair? Last time I had this problem I was guided to replace the switch which I did and it was successful. Can anyone provide a link to a switch that I could replace this one with?

Overall, any other suggestions or advice or instructions are alway appreciated. Thanks for the help everyone.

Remove the face plate, wrap it in a towel and place it safely away so it doesn't get scratched up.

If the power switch is sticking in the on or off position, you may be able to remove it and clean it. But I think most people generally agree that if you’ve already gone to the trouble to remove it, you might as well just replace it with a new, more reliable switch.

I removed the switch today and I think I have a one that I will try to fit. I do however need a replacement cap, and I am not sure which cap would be appropriate. I have attached a photo of the one I removed, unfortunately a lot of the info rubbed off the cap. It looks like "0.33 uf, 1120 ohm" which cannot be right. Does anyone have a suggestion, or a link to an appropriate cap on digikey? Thanks for the suggestions.

I think a snubber cap with a value of 0.1uF/600v is typical.

+1 on the capacitor selection. And the resistor is probably 100 or 120 ohm. It’s cheaper to buy the components and put them together but there are also pre-assembled snubbers available from Mouser, etc for additional cost.
