It's always a matter of opinion but if not, it's right up there near the top. I sold mine last fall as it was a garage system and thought it should be with someone who played it more often.
I never had it in an optimum listening room so to critique it wouldn't be fair. I used it to test a lot of speakers, but the room is a concrete box. There are a lot of youtube videos that review it. It was their top of the line model at the time it was produced.
I had a fully restored 1250 that was very nice.
Basically a 3600 preamp with a 250 amp which are highly regarded.

Marantz of the era were mostly reviewed as smooth on top, not harsh or fatiguing. I would have to agree, it never sounded shrill. It would easily overpower most bookshelf speakers, can't remember ever having to push it past half volume. Beastly, in a good way.
ok, I'll check testing video on Youtube too, from your point of view, the sound character is warm orm rather harsh ?
Thank you, I have a quote of this amps with very nice condition but there's restoration on capacitor of power supply, there 2 Elco in a new.
I saw on google, there's only 1 Elco of power supply but big one. But I also have seen there;s with 2 medium size Elco, which is the original one from Marantz factory ?

The 1250 came with a single "dual core" 14,000uf (or 2 separate caps in one can )main filter cap.
Since they are no longer available you have to get creative and install 2 separate ones at the very least.
Making it look like it isn't a science fair project is the key.

I have had a 1060, 1070, 1090, 1150d,1200, 1250, and 1300dc.
The best?
My favorite is the 1150d, I like how it looks, and the meter is killer. The 1250 and 1300 have a bunch of knobs and switches I never used.
But couple any of them with a 2110 or 2130, and you got a decent set up.
The 1250 is a great amp, restored, and make sure the relay has been updated. Buy it!
I have a 1090, 1150, 1180DC and 1250, and a few sansuis (au888, au919, au717). My main is the 1250. I find that it has the biggest sound stage among them, very much like listening to a live concert. The highs and mids are sweet, altho the bass can be tighter and more pronounced. I guess its the marantz martini effect. Overall still the winner for me.
Yes, I see some of 1250 have 2 Elco here, some on the Google have one Elco, but as long as the farad capacity is the same, it's ok
what's the original brand of 1250 Elco? Nichihon or else?
what about Marantz 1150 VS 1250 head to head, is there any big different in sound quality?
Have you compared 1150 vs 1250?
1150 is much warmer, lesser in clarity.
Definitely 1250! No doubt!which one do you like?
Definitely 1250! No doubt!
