Marantz 2220B Capacitor List/Suggestions

ALSO, I can't find 47uf 16v but the service manual says +100% -10%

Could I go for 47uf 25v. Assuming I could. Its within range with a tolerance of +/- 20%

The +/- 20% concerns capacitance, not the voltage rating.
But yes, going with a 25V instead of a 16V is just fine, maybe even recommended in some cases.
The voltage rating is what the cap will be happy to see at most. So even a 100 volt cap instead of a 6.3 volt one will work, but the size will be too big and if in the signal path that might have some negative effects.
 
You can nearly always go up one or two steps in voltage rating. I would use the wider spacing and then bend the leads so there is no tension if that isn't a perfect fit for the holes. The tolerance rating really refers to the capacitance. Conventional wisdom is that the smaller voltage rated caps were used because of space limitations and the fact that caps were generally larger 40 years ago. Today, a 47uF 25v cap is probably smaller than the 47uf 16v of the 70's.
 
Can you use 50v in place of the 16v on C705 and C 706? I am having some issues after recapping the amp board. The protection relay is clicking when the bass is all the way on. It performs perfect with the bass half level or less.

am i correct in assuming that the caps with multiples are signal path, and the stand alone caps are power supply in this list? Thanks.
 
There large caps on the power supply feed the amp/phono etc so should be good quality.
On the preamp board all the small value caps could be considered signal path.
Some use wima films some use SilmicII.

Thanks for your reply, Pat! I went with a majority of elna silmic II caps. For the 2 bi-polar caps on PE1 board i went with nichicon, as well as the main filter caps & maybe one or two others that i couldnt find elna brand caps. excited to get into my 2220b project. Just need to do some more homework on the differential pairs of transistors on the main amp board before i really dig in. :)

one more question: my FM tuner is currently out of alignment, im planning on bringing it to a shop to get fixed... since its already out of wack, should i go ahead & recap all the radio boards as well? i know you mentioned youre a strictly phono guy, but i listen to the radio everyday. I have the earlier B model without the Dolby FM board, so it looks like it would only be about 6 small caps to swap on the radio boards.

why didn't you use wima box capacitors for the lower end and what did you use for the bipolar and nopolar capacitors on the board?

A blanket recap is not necessary. Been a tech for over 40 years and if a cap is within spec it does not need to be replaced, especially main primary filter caps. Original caps were chosen by design engineers with very specific specs other than voltage and capacitance such as leakage, ESR and ripple to match the circuit. Have seen blanket recaps just using capacitance and voltage that hurt the sound rather than helping it.
 
Some like to do a recap and refer to the Pioneer Tuning Fork articles.
This shows exact capacitor type by position fit and function.
Very helpful to apply to a modern recap.
eg.-using and where to use low leakage caps etc.
