Marantz 2220b Sizzling?

It needs DC voltage for one thing and the dial pointer supply is AC so will take some rewiring. Also you will need a current limiting resistor in either leg of the LED, I prefer to insert it in the supply voltage side myself. The resistor value will depend on the exact LED used and the supply voltage. Google LED theory to learn what to do.

Looks like the indicator lamp does work on FM and AM, it does not work on phono or aux unfortunately. What could be causing this, and how can I fix it?

Maybe the bulbs are just burned out? Possibly the rotary selector switch is dirty so the bulb isn't getting grounded in which case there would be 8Vac on both sides of the bulb but an open bulb would look the same.

The dial indicator light only illuminates when FM or AM is selected. From what you've described, it's working correctly.
That's correct! I was thinking that it was the AM and FM indicators that were being referred to but maybe not and the dial pointer was the bad one.

Oh I hadn't thought of that at all. Well. If that's the case, I have done the repairs on this unit that I needed. Thank you everyone for your help, I greatly appreciate it.
