Marantz 2220B vs Yamaha CA-600

From a value point of view it's obvious, you have a working integrated amp with a value in the $200 range from what I can tell while you have a nonworking receiver that you think you can get working. Figure that's in the $100 range and there's no guarantee that you can get it working, at least economically.

Then there's the wattage issue. The Yammie is 35 wpc vs. 20 wpc for the Marantz. While this is a little less that 3db louder, it's also the difference that will allow it to be used with less efficient speakers.

Finally there's the availability. I'll bet that there's a lot more 2220B's floating around, as just above the entry level receiver of an upscale brand vs. the mid level Yamaha integrated amp also upscale brand.

well I chose to trade the cx-600 and a couple meadicore units for a marantz 2226b, pioneer autodrive turntable and an oscilloscope. The marantz was not working at all, after a massive cleanout, I noticed that one of the fuses mounted to the board was blown. Simply added a fuse jumper and new fuse and it has been sounding amazing ever since!! I did the fuse bulb upgrades and have it as my main receiver now!! I got really lucky with this one! Here's a picture of her all cleaned up

hello everyone!
Would you trade a perfect condition Yamaha ca-600 for a marantz 2220b that is cosmetically perfect and working but there is no sound out of one channel??? Thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks Jay
Yes I could most likely fix the marantz myself.

I would not give working Yamaha for highly overpriced NON-WORKING Marantz 2220b. It has been a while since Marantz prices got nothing short of insane, e-pray or no e-pray based. I have/had 2215B,2220B 2238B, 2252B in that class and while all of them sounded nice now you have to pay premium (read - ultra high) price for any of those. For 200-250$ average crazy Marantz2220 price you can get an array of better/more powerful amplifiers or receivers, so I would not base my decision on that parameter.
