Marantz 2226 hiss/static noise after few minutes.

Hi guys,

I have a problem with an old Marantz 2226. It made a hiss/static noise when I pushed the power on/off switch during few seconds every time, and the noise disappeared after approximately 6/7 seconds with no noise at all during hours. I though it needed a good cleaning with Deoxit...

Well.. It works now without hiss/static during few minutes (approx 10 min), but the noise come back and the lights are flickering... Every time I use a Deoxit on the switch, it gives me approx 10 min of free noise sound >_<

Anybody had the same problem with a vintage amp ? I am not sure if I can remove completly the switch without breaking it and check how clean it is

You got a worn out power switch.

I'll give a try with the power switch, I don't really understand what is a suppressor network ?

Any info on what's the suppressor network ? Haven't found anything googling "suppressor network" >_<

My guess is the large-sized capacitor thats soldered across the powerswitch terminals .

The part with the writing on it in the picture is the suppressor network. It is essentially a 0.1µF AC rated film capacitor with a series 120Ω 1/4W resistor.
There are many solutions, Quencharc from CDE is one.
