Marantz 2245 blackface $225 CL Lunenburg, MA - deal or scam?

Yes, he relists the same item over and over and over.
He seems to be listing a few different black face plate Marantz receivers now days.
Flag 'em when you see 'em.

This guy is still active! Currently "David" has the black 2245 listed on Philly CL, with a location of Elkton MD, which is about 5 miles from my home. Believe me, I'd be all over this unit if it was legit!

Here's the scam listing: https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/ele/d/elkton-marantz-2245/7341137761.html, sounds identical to what's mentioned above - supposedly an original black-face 2245 bought at the PX.

The guy has been working CL all over North America for years now, probably a decade; he even list up here in Canada on occasion. It's a scummy game he plays.

Ah, the good ol' Dave scams. He recently posted (it got flagged) an SX-1080 for $275 on the Seattle Craigslist, LOL!

How he's not in jail is beyond me.

Sadly, at $275 it's probably not enough money to get law enforcement eager to get involved.
Look at some cities where thugs are brazenly walking out of stores with bags of items since they know they won't be arrested or prosecuted.
One city has a new law that states shoplifting under $1000 they won't even arrest them.

I still appreciate what the LEO in Denver did concerning Noah Schumacher, too bad that is not the norm.

I don’t know what “Dave Culver” requires of his buyers, likely he will take whatever he can get quickly. If you’re willing to send him a F&F full payment to hold it, he’ll likely take it but if not he might also be taking $50, $100, maybe even $20 to “hold it for you” or whatever he can which are amounts that are pretty small to law enforcement but still add up for the perp.

Sad that we can’t get him in Jail, where we can spend even more money housing and clothing him, ... and he could continue to run the same scam, ... wait is that better?

I don't think he ever really stops. He posts the black faceplated Marantz every few weeks for $300 or so on the Saint Louis Craig's List. Someone in the area then always follows the post with one warning that it's a scam.

It would seem dave has moved from CL to OfferUp. Beware any $300-$400 upper end Marantz (black faced too), Pioneer, and Kenwood receivers, Akai reel to reel decks, and Klipsch Heresey speakers
Proceed with caution and DO NOT pay using F & F.

There is another guy on there now “Intothegroove1974” I actually found the profile pic he is using from a Facebook page jorgevintageaudio and when I sent him that link and said how cool it was, he said “Yes that’s my facebook page” and then stopped responding. I don’t want to report legitimate pages but I think I’m going to report his because there’s too many red flags… way below market prices, offering to do business outside of app, etc…

Around here he’s always got a Pioneer SX-950 or for $200 and an RT-909 for $300 in addition to the blacked out 2245. Been going on for such a long time, what an ass!
