Marantz 2265 and JBL L100 Classic

Hi,

I really love my Marantz 2265 - but I've been offered a set of the new JBL L100 Classic and I'm really tempted to get them.

But the JBL's are 4 Ohm's and the 2265 is rated at 8 Ohm's.

I've read for and against - the dealer is saying it won't be an issue, while others are saying "don't"!
Anyone in here with any experiences on this combo?

The 2265 isn't rated at 8 ohms. It can easily handle a 4 ohm load.
 
When looking at the 2265 manual it says "Load Impedance: 8 OHMS"...
But you wouldn't worry too much about it?
 
I have a 2275 and the manual says it's ok to run just the single 4 ohm set. Don't run 2 sets of speakers at the same time on the main and remote. I don't push it to hard. Remember these receivers are 40+ years old. I mainly run my 4 ohm speakers on my amps and intergrades that have a 4 ohm tap.

That's not the minimum it's ok seeing, 4 is fine. Any vintage receiver worth it's salt can handle a 4 ohm load.
However, if you're gonna be running them hard and loud, I would really recommend to get the 2265 restored if it's not already.
I personally would want a lot more power for those L100's.
 
I find it interesting that these speakers are 4 ohm when the originals were 8 ohm. Why would you make a modern reproduction and not make them the same impedance? I have some modified original L100 Century speakers hooked to a 1200 integrated. Those things definitely rock the house.
 
Marantz can handle 4 Ohm. 2265 with L100 should be fine. Start at low volume and monitor the amp section for heat. 2265 should run at or near room temperature. Bring volume up slowly and check for heat. Work your way up. Keep in mind you can only do so much with 65 wpc but 65 should be more than enough.
