Marantz 2500 Come Home - In FedEx Limbo

Ever get that feeling of loss when your favorite dog or cat doesn't come home. That's what I feel right now.

I was the winning bidder on a Marantz 2500 about two weeks ago. The seller was one of those iSoldit franchises out of Florida. I telephoned the manager and everything looked good. He gave me a tracking number and the Fedex system gave me a delivery date of April 28, today. I eagerly tracked it accross the country until it arrived in California. Delivery was suppose to be today and I waited and waited until I began to think something was wrong. I called. The phone rep said that my package stopped tracking and never made it out of the Bloomington, CA distribution center to the local truck dispatch and so was not on any truck on its way to me. I pushed him further on the meaning of this and he said that usually when this happens, the package has been lost by Fedex. (More likely stolen by insiders.) If my package does not show up in the mext few days, it is probably gone.

I told Fedex that this is a valuable peice and that if it is gone, I want my money back. Fedex will only refund the shipper so even though I paid for the item, I must contact the seller to get a refund. This hinges on the seller filing a claim on my behalf with Fedex. iSoldit should be reputable so let's see.

I've got my fingers crossed. I sure hope my 2500 comes home.

I wish you best, Sam.

On a good note, of all the shippers I've dealt with, FedEx have been the best to deal with by far, the US post office coming in a close second. I've only received damaged goods from UPS (except for today's package delivered by the post office, but that's another story).

On a bad note, my experiences with iSoldit stores, as well as my friend's experiences, have been less than stellar.

I bought a pair of Design acoustics PS-10 speakers listed as excellent condition. I specifically asked condition of woofer foam- told it was in great condition. I picked up the speakers in person and found a crushed corner, and gouges and indents in the box. A rusted hunk of a receiver stacked on top of the wood, and speaker wire mashed under the woofer (downfiring) and between the base, which had crunched the foam up and dug out some of the foam from the exposed copper wires of said speaker wire. Speakers were listed as working, yet one tweeter was not. While I was there, they also had someone's future auction win, a pair of speakers, blasting to distortion levels.

Other friends have bought items that were claimed to have been plugged in and powered up, but not tested. Some of these have been mysteriously dead on pickup.

I'd imagine some of these places are possibly run well. Others, like the stores I've personally seen, are run with part-timer high school kids screwing around with the merchandise, packing poorly, and outright lying about merchandise condition.

The loophole here is the items are sold "as is". Damage could be blamed on shipping. These are franchises and some of the owners will do anything to get the most out of the auction. Sadly, it is going to backfire in the long run on them with many complaints if they do so.

But I wish you luck. Sounds like the store you are dealing with may be one of the better stores.

That really sucks. I hope everything works out for you and that all the critters come home. I had FedEx delivery that I checked online and it told me that the package had been delivered. I was waiting the whole time for it and nobody showed. I frantically called and got one lame excuse after another, but it did show up the next day. Hopefully that will be your case too.

Hope you got a serial number just in case.

Cheers

I checked my tracking number again this morning and it still hasn't left the Bloomington, CA warehouse. Usually, when it is this close, it ships out the same evening as arrival or at the latest, the next day. My fingers are still crossed.

My Tracking number: 5940293 60002619

Thedelihaus: at least you got something...

Socal,

I had one exactly like yours with Fedex a few months back. Was shipped from Orlando (Disneyland's home) to Miami which is about a 4 hour car drive. Fedex lost it for about a week. Box finally got delivered by the local FedEx manager in his personal car. Looked like the box had been dragged behind a fedex truck for a week but the darn unit functioned perfect.

Cross your fingers....should show up by Monday.

I feel your pain. I lost a mint original McIntosh MC275 this way. Fedex only paid me the lowest Orion "trade-in" price. I have checked eBay for the past five years hoping it would show up there. Mine had some small changes I could easily ID. No dice. Oh well, at least I got something back from Fedex. Good luck!

Sam,

In my experience, a Fedex situation like this just causes a few day's delay - 99% chance you will get it by Tuesday.

I feel for you. I have also had problems with Isoldit stores. I will not buy anything from them. Poor customer service.

I say give it a few more days Sam. If it made it all the way to Cali from Miami I think it should be somewhere in the Fed Ex processing warehouse probably an in-house Fed Ex mistake.

I got a call from Fedex regarding package trace. Their internal tracking system shows an arrival scan at one location while the fedex.com tracking system shows an arrival scan at a different location. They were looking in the wrong place all along. No definitive word yet that my 2500 exists but at least there is some hope.

I was checking the past auctions and that unit was a steal at the final bid price!

I certainly hope she shows up intact....

Hi Crooner:

It will be a steal when it finally arrives. From several e-mail questions, it was described as working great with good sound from both channels and no hums at idle. I described the scope functions to the seller and he confirmed that it worked. The only problems I could see were the broken shanks on the scope and missing feet. If the scope knobs were there, this probably would have gone for $500 more. Hopefully, my 2500 was not a steal by some Fedex Goon.

Sam.

My wife and I were sitting in the living room one afternoon with the drapes open waiting for FedEx to deliver our new (to us) Marantz 1152DC amp. . . Soon the driver shows up and parks in the middle of the street, gets out and walks around the truck opens the door and climbs in. . .

We waited and waited both of us glued to the window (Cold day) and we just starred at the rear of the truck waiting for the driver to climb out. . . Then we saw it. . .Flying out the back in mid air. . . She fell to the street on her bottom from a height of about 6 feet. . .She did hit flat on the bottom like the driver was experienced at doing this. . .

Man we both took off out the door fixing to give this guy a piece of our mind. . . I noticed his Biceps were bigger than my legs so I was thinking of how I was going to word my insults in such a way as to avoid an ass whipping but my wife. . .women. . . they suffer from no such malady and she called him about 700 kinds of sons a bitches all the while I'm telling her lets check it out. . .

Turned out to be one of my best amps but. . .a close call. . .
