Marantz 4140 random light noise at power up

Hey all,

Haven't been on the site for a while, after my wife passed just kind of fell out of the hobby. Packed all the stuff up and pretty much stopped. But, then a sad looking 4140 came up and I really like that amp, so I bought it. Had to replace to power switch, fuse holder and tape 1 bank of rca's before I could even power it up. It passed the dbt and I went about recapping some of the boards. I did the matrix, power supply and both amps, testing with dbt after each. Set the voltage and adjusted all four amps to the SM specs. The amps were all way above the numbers in the manual, but adjusted down to spec. The only problem it seems to have is a very light static at power up in the right channel which is random and disappears in seconds. Anyone have any thoughts? I did not change the relay. Thanks Rich

Good to see you back! I have an identical noise in my 2325. It has been fully recapped and known trouble makers replaced. Since it goes away in ten seconds and never comes back while playing, I've decided not to go chasing such a short lived noise. If you find a culprit, maybe I’ll see if it’s the same in mine.

Thanks for the warm welcome, I think I am going to clean the 2/4 channel switch and the remote/local switch and call it done. As Steven pointed out, it's gone in 10 seconds and doesn't come out when playing. Thanks again Rich
