Marantz 5220 playback too fast

I'm new to AK and did perform a search on my issue first but did come up empty so I hope someone here can help.

I have a Marantz 5220 which works very well and has had it's belts replaced recently. When playing tapes however, the tapes play a bit too fast when compared with a digital source. Reading on these forums tells me that the deck includes speed adjustments located beside the motor but my deck doesn't seem to have them in the location where the service manual says.

Any ideas where the adjustment pot might be on my unit? I cannot seem to find anything that looks like one.

Thanks for your help!

Scott

It's been over a year since this was originally posted and I'm still trying to solve this one. Does anyone have any idea how to adjust the speed on this unit? It looks like the speed adjustment doesn't appear to exist when compared with the service manual.

I hope someone can help guide me in the right direction on this.

Thank you!

In reviewing the service manual it looks like the motor speed control potentiometer is supposed to be located on the Motor P.W.B. which is mounted behind the bracket to which the motor is attached (see the green arrow in the photo below). The following JPEG images may provide some clues that will help you locate it. You may need to follow the cable from the motor to the Motor P.W.B. to determine its actual location.
