I just put new belts on my Marantz 5220 and now it plays a a bit slow. How can I adjust the speed on this unit ?

I got this running again. There is an adjustment on the back of the motor. Hidden by a dust cover. A small jewelers flat blade screwdriver works. I adjusted the "correct" speed to a tape I knew well. A better way to calibrate the speed is to use a 1Khz audio signal tape and hook up a Frequency counter to the output of the tape deck. The "speed tape" can be made from a tape deck with correct speed. Not the one you are working on. The speed will change when new belts are installed. I learned from my own post. I'm sure this post will help others .

I have a 5220 and a 5020. Lots of fun changing belts in these eh? Also some of that old lube may have dried out some causing some drag.

Thats what I used. Just a little dab will do ya. For the small pullies I used Break Free lube. Just a tiny drop. Does your auto stop still work at the end of the tape? On one of mine I found a small bit of plastic had broken off of the mechanism. Replacing that small part with a small bit of plastic glued on fixed it.

I don't think my auto stop works ! I thought it just did not have an auto stop feature. Well now I guess I'll get it working !
