Am I even allowed to post in this thread since I have a 6320 with all 4 feet? I'm using a Magnepan Unitrac-I tonearm on this sweet table.

Sorry to renew an old topic, but I have a 6300 as well. It came with an extra Cartridge holder and the dust cover is in decent albeit scratched shape. I was planning on putting it into action in place of my DUAL 1229 but when I powered the 6300 up, the speed was a bit fast, the strobe showed a bit speedy, so I turned the speed adjustment knob on the 33rpm and it slowed down to nothing, then got all irrational on the speed altogether. What gives? Traveling and calling around town (I live in central Oklahoma, USA) and still haven't found a person who works on these. Any suggestions? Is there a way I could calibrate it myself? Could it be the speed adjustment pot? Otherwise the turntable sounds great. The frame is in nice shape, too:scratch2:. BTW I'm new here.. Looks like a wonderful place, and I'm starting to get back into vinyl, so I'll be posting a bit..
Spary a little Deoxit into the speed control pots. Use the red "straw" in the spray cap and spary with into the little holes in the pot where the wires go into it. Work the knobs back and forth, leave it sit for the night and flush it again the next day. Mine did the same thing and then worked fine after a little Deoxit cleaning. May sure you give it a day or so to dry before powering it up.

I cleaned the pots of my 6320 (armless 6300) after taking the bottom cover off and it cured the speed drift problem. Looks like Carl has 'splained it pretty well.
Great, guys, I just did it, and it works awesome! Here is a picture of the underside, of the pots, very easy to spot after the plastic cover is removed.
Another picture shows the 6300 operating (sitting on top of the 1229, oops.. nowhere else to put it yet).
I used Blow off Contact cleaner, and sprayed liberally in both pots. I worked both pots back and forth quite a few times. I was wondering about the necessity or lack thereof to mess with the +/- controls under the direct drive motor--they're probably for calibration, right? The strobe light is on, sometimes dims a bit but appears to be working OK.. Speed is set and constant. Now I have a nice new (old) baby to play the vinyl on! Working very nicely.

Have the same problem and confused...
I have the same problem (speed drift) with my Marantz 6300, and am confused... Which "pots" are you talking about? The ones connected to the speed control knobs (found on top of the unit), or the ones on the motor itself? I appreciate your reply--thanks!

Ones connected to the top controls. The motor pots see much less dirt so probably are not dirty yet.

I always wondered if the Lafayette T-6000 Direct Drive TT and the Marantz 6300 are related.... like made by the same manufacture.
This is my TT from 1979... been sitting in the basement for 16 years and finally took it out....needs a dusting...
I added the T shaped tubes below the tone-arm they are levels.
But just thinking it maybe related to the 6300.... I might just need to pick up its Marantz Cousin so it does not feel alone....
