@cpt_paranoia Aha, that makes sense. Thanks for pointing that out, i'm going to be reading some more fundamental information in regards to PCB, layouts etc.
@Binkman I understand completely! I have no real attachment to this unit, based on further research of people repairing the SR-5004 and other similar models experiencing rapid blinking their issues were due to all kinds of random issues such as a DTS CPU that simply needed to be reflowed. Tracking down an obscure issue like that with my entry level knowledge may not just be worth the time especially if this isn't the greatest unit to try learning on.
Assuming that the one surface mount diode that I mentioned that appeared to be missing isn't the culprit then I may just keep the unit shelved near by, always willing to look more in-depth into it in the future for sure though if anyone has any suggestions!
Just for completeness I wanted I supplement the thread with video of how the unit behaves as soon as it plugs in it starts rapidly blinking. I attempt to reset via Surround + Cancel + Exit, hear a click and then it goes back to rapid blinking.

When plugged into DBT with 150w bulb the same relay keeps rapidly clicking causing the bulb to blink each click, based on what I read that is to be expected.
