Mark Knopfler's solo work

I have Sailing to Philadelphia. "The Last Laugh" with Van Morrison is a beautiful song.

Check out "The Notting Hillbillies - Missing...Presumed Having a Good Time".
Some haunting guitar work by Mark on a song called "Feel Like Going Home" by Charley Rich.

+1.One of my favorite cds of all time.

I really need to start paying attention to the age of the threads.

My apology.I was almost going to start a new thread re Knopfler/Harris All the Roadrunning, however I thought it best to add my thoughts to an old thread and chose this one.

Reawakening the dead......

You know what I don't have? "All the Roadrunning." Seems like I should go grab a copy. I'd really like to grab Get Lucky on vinyl too.

Amazon has some good priced copies of Get Lucky (only 3 though).Move quickly and grab one.

If you are going to get "All The Roadrunning" on CD, I would recommend "Real Live Roadrunning" with the CD and DVD of the concert. It is worth the extra money, IMHO!

As has been said, you really can't go wrong with any of his solo work. I have a lot of it and there isn't a bad album in the bunch!

His soundtrack work is fantastic also!

Really though, if it says Mark Knopfler, pick it up.

True, True, True. :thmbsp:
All of his solo works are great. Each album has at least three tunes that are just fantastic. His lyrics and story telling ability are up there with the best in my opinion.
Saw him at the Greek in LA several years ago and had great time.

I got my deluxe 'Get Lucky' box.The vinyl is nice.Knopfler's voice is too forward in the mix,but the music is really nice.Easy listening.

Just the sort of thing to relax and unwind with.

Personally, I never got into his solo work. Most of it, I find, borders on the narcoleptic. Dire Straits’ music usually had an edge and a sense of “energy” that a lot of his solo stuff lacks. I realize this is probably a minority opinion on this thread, but so far nothing I’ve heard from him solo has really convinced me.
