I just returned home with these. I'm happy to say that they were in a bit better condition than I expected. I have been looking for some period correct cabinets for my Stephens 206 drivers for a while, these should be a good match.

These have lived a lot of life and have multiple layers of paint. I was happy to see that these seem to be the real deal and even have the stamp of where they were built in Inglewood, CA. Another thing I like is that there are remnants of the original Altec silver paint on one of the back panels, should be easy to match.

Best part of the morning though was meeting a great local AKer. Looking forward to the next visit and conversation.

Yes, I studied the construction of the joints off the back corner pic....and there was also some silver paint on the front under some bracket taken off....

So, I concluded they were the real deal. I've been looking for something like this to pop up local to me...but nothing so far.

Should be cool cabs for your TruSonics!

They are actually in very good shape. I was expecting damage to the wood based on the pictures but it’s mainly scuffs to the paint layers and very little damage to the actual cabinets.

In the Midwest there aren’t many opportunities to buy gear like this, I’m glad I saw your post @Leland47. Thanks!

Yup, they look similar to me. The odds of me ever finding original Tru-sonic cabinets are almost nil so I’m glad they are close.

I haven’t decided yet if I want to paint them battleship grey to mimic the Stephens, or paint them the original Altec silver. I’m leaning towards the Stephens colors. I’ll be ordering some of those decals for sure!

I’m actually quite fond of the simplest of colors, including black and grey. I think it’s because I used to be into cars back into the day and got used to project vechicles in primer. Maybe that’s why I like the battleship grey with the Stephens and flat black on pro speakers. I certainly don’t mind the patina on these, shows they have some history,
