And I completely forgot about this thread.

At first I thought they were Altec Bolero, they look similar. Hirano started out designing speakers for Sansui from '66-75 and he said he likes those old JBL and Altec. I think he built them

And RIP to Hirano-San he passed away January 2025. Almost a year ago.
 
Sansui story doesnt end here.New story will begin soon.They deserve all respect they can get.New brand will be born on theirs concept.

Do you mean new licensed Sansui production or do you mean that 555a project you are working on? Or both?
 
I am going to make new era in audio industry and yes i do mean on 555A bassed project I am working on.It will bloom into something no one dare to make till this time.I honor Sansui for an amazing , amazing work but in this time line I am going to write new lines (based on exact theirs concept but not copy-paste).This means AB class that is something very new and class D that is absolute novelty(till this day i am working on it full 18 years and few days a go it earned mark as done).I will show the development here.I think many of you including me will enjoy in it.Preamp section will be absolutely unique as all else.I decided to go with double C cores for power supply and also made few decisions to make my development harder no matter what , but once sound is made it will sing with the air and they will celebrate the marriage.

Power amplifier is not voltage amplifier.Every single audio amplifier on the market (i dont care who is the giant behind it) is singing power supply and not the power amplifier.

When you listen my design i will bring the soul of the singer inside the room no matter what the speaker is.This is the promise.

Do you mean you are going to commercially produce this amp as a Sansui licensed product, or develop a DIY Sansui inspired amplifier?
 
I will make my own DIY product.It will not be Sansui product but my own.I do not copy - paste theirs work.I used theirs concept and then i developed my own that have exact same sonic footprint.The key is how i made it and what my design can and theirs never ever could.But my statement is also about class D amp i developed too . One bold claim i can give also is that every single power audio amplifier is made as singing power supply.My amplifiers will not be and are not like that at all.When time comes videos will present what i am talking about.Things are done wrong ....always wrong.Audio POWER amplifier is not Audio VOLTAGE amplifier.Every single one all the people have is singing power supply that keeps constant voltage over full frequency range.Absolutely , totally wrong .... to be done differently took me huge time,but i did it.It is all but easy...But it was worth it.

It will take me some time to prepare things for video and to design boards i want to present....but it will happen.
 
I am not DIY builder .I do designing in electronics for living.I made and designed things as a freelancer that many of you use every day now.Still do freelancing and have small company as well.Development i did in class D have no inspiration in anything anyone ever did.In AB this what i am going to do is exactly inspired with Sansui design and their concept in 555 power amp.But final product i will make and show will be my personal stamp in audio amplifier technology.
 
Will open thread there.I want to make some PCBs and few other things first.Project wont be fully transparent for DIYers and no much of the details will be shown.But all else will be shown....internal construction,transformer choice,workflow,PCBs,sound quality ....and many other things.....if i discover all here it wont be interesting as it can and will be :)
