MC-30A stops making music

As I described in a previous thread, I recently put my MC-30 and MC-30A amps into my system.

The MC-30A is acting up. After I power it up, all the tubes glow, and it makes music. Then, about 30-40 minutes later, the output fades to almost nothing. Adjusting the pots doesn't change anything. Glowing tubes, no music.

I've changed all the tubes and checked the fuse and they seem OK. Any suggestions?

Should I not power the amp on until this is fixed?

Tell us more about what's been done inside as far as restoration goes. Also do a search here. There's plenty of discussion regarding what to consider along that line.

Do a search on my online name as I recently redid a set of these and reported the results if nothing else.

Well, I am no DIYer, so there's no way I'm going near these amps with a soldering iron. They have been to two local repair shops, but I am not convinced they did what's best.

I am now seriously considering sending them both to Terry DeWick, as soon as I find out the safest way to ship them. Any suggestions?

Great plan.....

I'd pick up the phone on Monday and ask Terry about how he recommends shipping them for the best results. He's done it more times than me.

Sorry you're having troubles.

I do think it's a good idea to send them both to Terry.
It's tough to have to shell out more money, but you'll be able to have them brought up to specs which should last a LONG time. Then you just have to sit back and enjoy, as opposed to worrying about them failing.

Another point to consider is the repairs being a form of protection/insurance on your investment.

I concur with Paul...ship them to Terry....he refreshed my 30's and are they sweet!
