Mcd205 or Mvp861.... this is the problem

You want the second best CD player on the market? Get the 201. You want the best CD player on the market? Get the MCD/MDA. :thmbsp:

I've owned both.
Just one man's humble opinion.

Victor,my beef is if I can't listen to say a mcd201 or any other mac piece I want to compare to another to make my mind up,why should I have to pay this guy just to make a phone call to order me something I might not like?

I know exactly how you feel Chris. I'm in the same boat here. My local dealer is useless for anything other than ordering gear. I've talked him in to a small discount but in the end I just had to bite the bullet. Waiting for things to change was not an option for me. I want what I want and I'm rather impatient when it comes to audio gear.

I wanted a full warranty from an authorized dealer and it cost me. As for a certified local tech, that is asking alot. You most likely won't need it anyway but if you do just send it off. That's just the way it is. I chose to look at it like my music is one of the most important things in life so I made my purchases then worked to make up for it in other areas of business.

Hope things work out for you.

I would recommend the 201 to anyone able to buy a player in that price range and whos system is worth it. I "only" have a MA6500 and B&W 703's so I may not have the full benefits of the 201, but I'm still very happy of my purchase. The 201 sounds much better than my previous player (the Rotel RCD-1072 that is also an acclaimed winner in its price range).

I would be so curious to hear a MDA1000/MC501/B&W 800 series setup.. I think that must be my dream setup! but it is also in another league$$..
