Mcintosh Car Audio?

And see, I'm a McIntosh nut . . . I've just never heard a McIntosh car system that I felt blew me away . . . and I've heard several. With car audio, speaker placement is critical. As you don't sit in any "sweet spot", most car speakers are designed to have really good off-axis frequency response. Knowing how to put that to work with particular products to achieve good imaging separates the men from the boys.

My daily driver, a 2003 Ford Mustang Gt, has the 2nd most satisfying car audio system I've ever owned. It's comprised of 6 speakers, two of them are 18" subwoofers in an infinite baffle arrangement. It plays ruler flat to well below 20 Hz. We designed, built, and installed this system when I worked for Rockford Fosgate over a period of about 3 months. The same department that was responsible for the voicing in many of the RF branded OEM systems utilized their tuning hardware (well out of the reach of even the best shops) to fine tune the equalization. It's jaw dropping.
