Greetings! I'm fairly new to AK and this is my first post to the McIntosh forum. After being away from good audio for a long time I lucked into a really nice setup. I had no exposure to McIntosh equipment before this and I admit to obsessing a bit the more I learn about the company and their fine products. So I'm thinking I need to expand on some of my "swag" and I'd really like a display sign for my listening room. It doesn't look like there is much out there so I may need to make one. I have a friend that makes really nice neon signs that cater to the automobilia crowd and I may have him help me put something together. Any ideas where I may find a nice sign? I'm sure some others of you have had similar desires - what have you found or done?

Such a forgery might invoke the wrath of the McIntosh suits, and you know they sell $40,000 amplifiers. Well, that ain't the only power they can hit you with, pal!

I suppose that would be a valid concern if I was planning on making things to sell but I am just looking for something for myself. I can't believe there isn't anything out there to purchase - maybe there is and I just haven't looked in the right places.

But seriously, there are signs out there I've seen that occasionally become available on eBay. They once made "component" signs made from a metal case with a glass faceplate, but those are much more expensive if you can still find them. They were the same size as most of their components at the time and could be stacked somewhere amidst their REAL components. They were made to go to their dealerships to be stacked amidst their demo units.
 
Looks like Dan beat us to the post once again. Some say he has the fastest keyboard "draw" East and West. :D
 
Thanks guys! I've seen the reference to the "component" signs which are very cool but the price - woof! For as much of a cult following as Mc seems to have there is just not much out there for "swag" (for lack of a better term). Maybe that's part of the mystique...

No problem to have one (or more)commissioned for oneself. But as mentioned before, marketing them would be another issue.
 
It was an attempt at facetiousness... perhaps a lame one. Later I tried to commission one too.

Cigarette, the boat manufacturer, has decided recently that their logo is their most valuable asset and have aggressively protected it from copyright infringement. The "Harley Davidson" thing here.

Recently, when a group of owners got together and commissioned a Neon company to do a sign using their logo, which they (Cigarette Racing) were aware of, they did nothing as none were produced for sale to the general public.

Just my experience here. BTW, the Neon was fantastic (made in USA) and a 2'x3' sign was about 600 bucks.
