McIntosh Logo Artwork

How about a faceplate from a stereo amp. either a 402 or 252, one meter displays the hour and the other meter the minutes and you have a mcintosh clock. Some of you may feel that a more accurate clock would have separate power supplies for the the hour hand and the minute hand so that 2 separate faceplates from the 501 is needed. Since it is a Mcintosh the clock it would have to have a autoformer.The power cords would also need to be upgraded to give a quieter clock. What do you think ? Some non-audiophiles think what we do is as looney as this post.

Recently, when a group of owners got together and commissioned a Neon company to do a sign using their logo, which they (Cigarette Racing) were aware of, they did nothing as none were produced for sale to the general public.

Just my experience here. BTW, the Neon was fantastic (made in USA) and a 2'x3' sign was about 600 bucks.

McIntosh would be far more forgiving than Monster -- Monster appears highly motivated to sue any company even using Monster in their name:

I've seen the Lexan signs on Ebay and they are okay... I want something a little more McLike! I'll have to check and see if there is a neon glass color that approximates the lovely aqua blue of the meters! I was thinking something more like this:

OMG--for a piece of glass, a cheap metal box and a lightbulb and socket!!!! IF IF IF it were only possible to obtain the glass panel from McIntosh parts -- it would be relatively easy to create the box and lighting that go behind it.

You forgot the interconnects, they would have to be of the best quality.
Some may feel that that one power supply if built correctly would be enough to handle the power consumption. Speaking of power consumption, you will also need a dedicated line for this clock, one of those $1000 outlets, and a line conditioner.

The glass is sometimes available from McIntosh. I know McIntosh had some of the display glass in stock last year. If they get enough orders for the glass I would think they would make another run of the glass.

Seriously, a small or medium sized table clock might be nice (forget the meters, lets have an analog clock with say, backlit lines at the number positions) with the glass and green McIntosh Logo. Hands? Dunno...leave it up to Mac. I suppose they'd need some sort of lighting scheme.

Sell the clock for a few (or several) hundred bucks along with the other McParaphernalia-bomber jacket, etc.

I have enough solid state clocks to last me a lifetime. My McIntosh clock will have to include tubes, and a tube oscillator. The glow from the tube filiments will light the dial. It will only have a minute hand, which will be phosphorescent. The hour locations will use the magic eye tubes, and each hour will glow green during that hour.
