McIntosh MC2505 or MC2002?

I currently have a MC 2505 Power Amp paired with a C26 Pre Amp and a MR 74 Tuner. I recently saw a MC 2002 pop up for sale where I live. Curious if you guys have heard both the 2002 and 2505 and if so which did you prefer?

Kind of curious if it’s worth trading for the 2002. If I did trade, would my 2505 wood case fit the 2002?

Thanks!

Cabinets will not interchange. The MC2505 is a direct cosmetic match to the existing equipment and a better impedance match to the C26 as they were designed to be used with one another.

The MC2505 is autoformer design which has been a McIntosh hallmark for decades while the MC2002 is direct coupled. DC amplifiers are in more widespread use since since they are lighter less expensive to manufacture but generally less robust than the venerable autoformer models that McIntosh built its reputation on. Being they're both McIntosh, I wouldn't expect there to be any major performance disparities between them but subjective listener accounts may vary. Unless habitually running out of power with the MC2505, I think you'd be better off keeping it.
