Wow. I'm impressed. We definitely need details on all these... and pictures! Instead of having one integrated amp model (MA6600) that could be made into a receiver by adding an optional tuner module I take it the MA6700 and MAC6700 are essentially the same internally expect the latter has a tuner built-in.

I would like to see more companies include internet accessibility on their tuners and receivers. A number of companies are releasing stand alone network players but I would like to see more integrated units. I think it would be a great feature on the new Mac receiver. Maybe next product cycle.
 
I wonder how many of the amps (standalone or integrated) have autoformers?

Looking forward to seeing what they do with the 7900; potentially fulfilling everything I could want in a 1 box solution. Having at least 2 boxes of Mac stuff is always so perdy though.
 
Looks like most of the new stuff are getting less knobs.

5200 is a 'slimline' integrated. Also looks to be DC coupled but is open chassis like the autoformer coupled units. In several ways, the 5200 appears to be the most unique.

The 7900 is def the one I want.
 
I'm not digging the fact that there is no longer a "mono" switch on the faceplate of the Integrateds. ..I'm hope that you can switch to mono either by function dial or with the remote. ..Otherwise, I'm quite disappointed.

IMHO one of the most endearing attributes of McIntosh as a brand is that they include sensible, functional controls such as balance, mode (mono), and tone controls on nearly all integrateds and pre-amps; basically snubbing their noses at the silly purist crowd and embracing the real music lovers.
 
Likewise I'm disappointed with the lack of 5-band EQ on the MAC 6700. Curious why the MA 6700 is export only model. :scratch2:

And why no more CV loudness anymore?? :tears:
 
The MAC6700 receiver is what I'm most interested in but the removal of the trim/adjust knobs has me thinking twice as I use them extensively. If McIntosh had better remotes I might not. It's too bad it didn't get the EQ of the MA7900 as it seems the only difference between the MA6700 and the MAC6700 is the tuner. Really want to see the back of these to see what connections they have.
 
Same for me- the MAC could have tempted me to buy my first new Mcintosh. I use the CV frequently; less so for the EQ but I do find it a necessary tool for older recordings. I'm also not crazy about combining functions in a single control.

Every MAC receiver had EQ + CV loudnesss from the 4100-on. I'll guess I'll just keep my present gear and get a CR 7 for remote operation.
 
From what I've seen the MAC6700 receiver is an MA6700 and tuner module combined much the same way you can turn an MA6600 into a receiver by adding one. Not a bad way of going as I'm a huge fan of the MA6600 but also not really a receiver designed from the ground up either. I kind of think the MA5200 might have been a better basis for a receiver. Having a couple MAC4100 I would have loved to see the EQ+CV as well. The MA7900 has my interest though.
 
Looking at the MA6700 It seems like the tone and balance controls and (hopefully) mono switch are now accessed by the remote only. UGH! One of the things I love most about Mac gear is how they fully outfit their gear with useful features while maintaining such beautiful appearance. They did this by using attractive knobs and switches NOT by eliminating all of them and just sticking them on their remote.

Personally, I'd rather see MORE controls on the faceplate and LESS on the remote. In fact, I'd be perfectly okay if my MA6600 came with a nicely finished Volume & Source only remote. You could then make a multi-function remote an extra cost option. I really dislike that my remote has about 30 buttons that have no function. ..Not very Mac like, imho.

Couldn't agree more.

The remote had always been ancillary, but now it has become the exclusive means of operation for many functions. :thumbsdn:

MAC6700 allows all functions to be controlled from the front panel. The left large knob is multi-function. Push it once for trim, push and hold for setup.

Good to know Ron. Thanks and sorry for the Chicken Little over reaction. ...But since you're listening, keep in mind that McIntosh owners generally love knobs :) ..I know every other high-end gear mfg. believes in the less-is-more approach, but mac users are a different breed (speaking for my self and a handful of others I know).

The new integrated amps have a two line VF display that allows a lot of information to be displayed and functions controlled with the input selector and volume control. It works pretty slick and allows total control without the remote.
