McIntosh value

@captouch Sorry, wasn’t sure. Fairbanks Alaska. This gear is located in Anchorage, 400 miles away. Haven’t seen any Mc gear listed in Fairbanks that I can remember in the last several years. That was only the second Mc listing I’d seen on Anchorage CL in the last couple years. And the other listing was for an $8000 current model combination that I believe was eventually taken down due to lack of interest. Most all of my existing Carver equipment was shipped from other states after purchase and servicing. That is most likely how I’ll end up acquiring any Mc gear. Prefer to spend extra in shipping and know that the equipment is or has been properly serviced and is from a reliable source.
 
Just for reference, I recently purchased a 2105, MX113, and ML-1C speakers for $1300 from original owner. Untouched with all paperwork and manuals. No cabinets.

The speakers will absolutely have to be refoamed. I refoamed and recapped them, then found the MQ101 equalizer locally for $200. I think these speakers sound excellent with this setup.

Well, make no mistake, it is infectious. Regarding your situation, the 2105 is an iconic McIntosh SS amp. When current, the C28 was their top of the line preamp. When healthy, it's no slouch either.
I see you have a Marantz 2230. If you like those type of characteristics (pick your superlative), you should love that combo. Your offer is a good one for both of you.
Hopefully the seller will take advantage of that. Regarding the purchase listed above by jkaley, THAT was a steal.

@seacliffe301 sellers ad has ‘expired’. Maybe he sold them or just pulled the ad for later listing. My 2230 is currently with @catrafter for a complete refresher. Haven’t heard it since the 70’s. It was my brothers and I remember listening to the likes of Grand Funk Railroad, Gordon Lightfoot etc. all on vinyl. That started my love of music. So I’m very much looking forward to hearing the ‘Marantz’ sound again. If & when I’m able to acquire some McIntosh gear, where or who should I turn to for competent repair work? I much prefer ‘word of mouth’ referrals for competent techs. Recommendations from this and a couple other forums has served me well for my Carver gear upgrades. Thanks

Terry DeWick would be the tech. Audio Classics would be the shop that Mc owners here swears by.
