MCS 6401 TT, cool arm..

Happy New Year! Uh just practicing for later!

I picked up another MCS TT, the 6401! Very nice basic TT, the arm is nice looking. It has a 2 step cuing control on semi-auto and it plays manually.

Testing with some Linda Ronstadt! Sounds sweet with the m97Xe.

The controls on this have a Thorensian look, but I'm pretty sure it's a CEC creation--as opposed to many MCS tables which were Technics clones.

Sorry don't have info on the AS weight.

That's a sharp looking table. You don't see very many 64xx MCS TTs.

Thanks, I try and save all of them, they need a little TLC and new owners who enjoys vinyl.

Almost done with this one.

New belt, just have to order some more carts.

John, did you install new RCA cables? Those grey ones look like high quality ones - nice. I can't say I've seen a transformer that big in a turntable. I'd like to give that table a spin :thmbsp:

Those are the cables that came with it,very good quality. I put the anti-skate weight I had here on too, sounds awesome.:thmbsp:

Sorry to bother you again, John, but was a sticker anywhere on the table (bottom?) that has a 3 digit date code? I'm curious what year this table is from. I'm guessing it was made in mid-to-late 1977, for model year 1978?? It's not in my catalog from 1979.....

I'd guess from the serial number that it was maybe made in September of 1977. The better clue is the word "JCPenney" imprinted by the model number on the front. Only the early pieces had that. By the 1979 model year, that was gone.
