I've acquired a Sony DSR-PD150 camcorder without a microphone, and I'm wondering what my options might be for a suitable affordable new or used microphone.
I tried my Audio Technica AT9100, and it can barely be heard, even with the gain turned all the way up. I'm guessing this is because it's a dynamic mic, and the camcorder was designed for a condenser mic.
Basically if it sounds at least as good as the built-in mic on a decent consumer camcorder like a Sony Handycam, I'm happy. As long as it's omnidirectional and has a straight handle to fit the grip on the camcorder. XLR is preferred, but I have a 3.5mm adapter too. My budget is $40.
Thanks!
