Miller & Kreisel MX-150 The Guts & The Glory

Wolfwood

In the Valley of the Sun
I am troubleshooting a no-sound issue on a Miller & Kreisel MX150 mkII. Before anything I checked the motion of the front woofer to find that the voice coil was stuck. Not rubbing but darn STUCK. ( figuring it was just a shifted plate issue ) I removed the magnets and plate, voice coil looked fine. Had to be a shifted plate/magnet. Managed to re-center the plate in the voice-coil and voila! No more rubbing. Glued it all back together. Here she sits waiting patiently while the doctor takes photos. While I was working on her I checked online to see what ( if any ) guts changed from gen 1 to gen 2. Couldn't find a gen 1 reference or gen 2 for that matter. So am leaving some pictures here for posterity.

Isn't fixin stuff fun? :)

PS : There was a virtual cloud of white cotton stuffing in here.

So its all working now? I noticed in the pictures the fast blow and slow blow fuses are missing. Maybe you just removed those when you took the pick. Anyway I have the same sub that I am getting ready to open up and replace all the capacitors for preventative maintenance.
