Mint Sony PS-3000 turntable, SS-3300 speakers, components, what are they worth?

I have the opportunity to pick up some really nice vintage Sony equipment from the original owner. Included are:

Sony TTS-3000 turntable with PUA-286 arm. I understand this is a very nice turntable.
Sony ST-5000 Tuner. I don't listen to much radio, but again I think this is pretty nice.
Sony TA-1120 integrated amp. This is rated 50 WPC on hifiengine.
Sony SS-3300 speakers.

All of this stuff is in really great condition. I haven't seen it in person yet, but there doesn't seem to be a scratch on any of it. I know most of it would need some work, but I can do most of it myself. The seller really wants to sell it all together because of sentimentality, but I am not sure I can afford to grab all of it. He doesn't really know what it's worth, but he knows it isn't junk. Any pricing help is appreciated.

With that arm, that table is known as the Sony PS-3000 if that helps you with pricing hunts (eBay completed sales, HiFi Shark completed sales).
 
Oh, and you can knock off 30-40% for the seller's desire to move it all together. Packages are always far cheaper than individual units.

Thanks for the info on that turntable designation, but I still can't seem to find much on it as far as price. I am still having a hard time finding info on the speakers, as they seem quite rare. I don't want to lowball the guy too badly, and the stuff seems in great shape even if it'll need work. The turntable is what I am most interested in since I have plenty of speakers and amps right now. I'd have to sell some to make room for this stuff. I may try to offer him something like $500-$600 for the lot and see what he says. Do you think that would be reasonable or offensively low?
 
Tough call. Arguably the table alone is potentially worth that. That's a 16" arm. One did sit on eBay unsold at $529 though with a Grace arm.

Yeah the turntable is what I would really love to snag by itself, and if it is in the condition I think it's in, I'd almost pay that just for the table. Buyer wants to sell it all together and wants it to be kept together "in a good home." I'll have to see how much he needs the money versus his need to sell the stuff to someone who will use it, which I certainly will.
 
That amp is the very first ES component. I'd love to hear one sometime.

You're basically looking at the complete set of the very first Sony ES series, though the table is a bit later than the other components. It has to be a rarity with that 16" arm.

Thanks for the info. I am realizing that this is a very cool set of equipment. Going to be hard to pass on it. Do you have any idea of value for this set everything considered? I am not much of a Sony guy (yet).
 
The speakers (according to Vintage Knob) are 98db sensitive and actually a batter match for tubes than for the high powered ss receiver.

That was my thought as well. Could imagine my Fisher 500c would make them absolutely sing.

I tracked down the service manual on hifiengine, and it says that it's rated at 50wpc at 8ohms and 35wpc at 16ohms. The speakers are 16ohm, so the 35wpc may not be too much.
 
I have kept an eye on these tables since acquiring one myself. The prices are really all over the place and they sit unsold for a long time in the $500 range. People are starting to come around on them but being as scarce as they are it's hard to pinpoint a value.

If I were to buy one with the larger plinth and that arm, I'd probably put down the $500 but I'd be happier at $300-$400. The plinths are pretty cheesy though. I plan on doing a layered baltic birch ply one for mine eventually.

Thanks a lot for the info. It's even harder to price because he wants to sell all pieces together. I definitely would love to have all of it, but it could get pricey. Any idea on those speakers? They seem like they could be awesome, but I have no idea what they are worth.

If they are the earlier ST-5000 (non-F) and TA-1120 (non-A), they will be a bit more rare. Those came out in 1965 I think? A working TA-1120 has to be worth a couple hundred bucks, and the ST-5000 should be worth $300 and up. Both wonderful pieces.

Thanks for the info. I'm starting to gather that this is a pretty cool setup. Gonna have a really hard time not walking away with it. Need to start selling some stuff!
 
I'd been watching the TA-1120 amps on auction site for several months, and they've been selling in the $240-$280 range. There's actually one listed right now (not mine) so you can track what it goes for, though that may be skewed because it will be shipped from Mumbai and the shipping cost will be steep. I just purchased a TA-1120 (non-A - the earlier) at the upper end of that price range and it is really, really nice. Check out the review for it on the select45rpm site - they LOVE it, and find it to be superior than the 1120a. The amp is actually rated at 50 wpc into 8 ohms. In the past year I've had several Sony receivers from that period in that wattage range and they sound incredible with my very high efficiency Klipsch speakers. Definitely not too much juice for the Sony speakers of that generation. Keep us posted!
