Mistsubishi LT-30 Arm Movement

I remember a Wireless World (I think) DIY linear arm back in 1978 that used a light and photosensors. I think it actually had the light shining down the arm tube, which I guess not only gave a very narrow window for the gate, but also made it direct reading.
