I have pretty much given up on the MLB. Life long resident of Wisconsin and I cant see a brewer game unless I drive 3 hours or pay to see it on TV. WTF?

IMO the MLB package is the best value of all the pro sports packages. Still I can't believe you cheeseheads don't get the Brewers games as part of your regular cable or satellite package? I live in TN and get not all but a good bit of Braves, Reds, Cardinals, and believe it or not The Padres as part of my normal package. That wasn't enough for me though.

Being a hard core St. Louis Cardinals fan (and MLB fan in general), I pay the extra $150 per year to get 99% of every game every team. Over 90 games per week available on TV. It's a baseball smorgasbord!

I whined to DirecTV about the cost so they threw-in the Cardinals Team package with it for free (a $50 extra value).

So it works out to be $150 for 2,430 games or 6.2 cents per game. Of course you can't possibly watch all 2,430 games even if you tried because many are on simultaneously, but they are available.

Call up your TV provider and complain about the price in general and threaten to switch. A lot of times they will throw-in a year's worth of MLB for free. I have gotten it for free before.

The Brew Crew are poised to be possible contenders again this year. Last year they surprised everyone.

I don't know... Mike Trout is looking like he has a better chance of getting that title. The Yankees usually make the playoffs and are just about always at the least... contenders.

Is MLB better thru your provider? We tried to stream mlb and it constantly buffered no matter what we did or tried. It was impossible to watch.
 
I live in the country and there is no fiber optic cable yet so I use satellite DirecTV. There are no issues watching it on TV or online via cell phone. No buffering.

In the past I have had just the MLB online package too without DirecTV and never had any issues with that either. As long as your cell phone or internet connection is decent I don't see why you would.

Even with DirecTV when you stream games you go to MLB.com and enter your credentials. At that point DirecTV isn't really involved. It's the same as-if you just had the MLB.com streaming package.

I would check with your internet provider or cell phone company if you are having problems. I can even ride in cars cross country and not have any streaming issues. When I am on the road for work I can watch all the games in my hotel room or wherever.
 
I get most of my Giants games on a local cable channel. If not, I stream them on my computer when it will let me.


NOTE - The Giants have a drone operator that gives you some of the most spectacular shots of San Francisco and surrounding areas you will ever see.
 
It's been tough (for me anyway) to be hardcore baseball fan here in Seattle. In 50 years the Mariners have made the post-season 6 times. Only team in MLB never to make the World Series is another feather in their cap. Though an ALCS appearance last year has shaken things up and there's optimism now. Unfortunately they typically get off to a slow start offensively and year this is no different.

Having said that, we do get all the games televised and we also live pretty close to T-Mobile Park, and that's helluva nice place to take in a game. We'll go to a few depending on who's in town. I root for the Giants when the M's are irrelevant. Having been born in SF Bay Area, but been in Seattle since 1973.
 
Well, my local team is beginning the season on a sour note....... :mad:

As of April 23, 2026, the Boston Red Sox have a 9–15 record, placing them 5th in the AL East division. The team is currently under .500 for the 2026 MLB season.

Cora best turn things around quick, or he'll be gone next season.....


"As of late April 2026, the Boston Red Sox are not expected to fire manager Alex Cora in the near future despite a rough 1–5 start to the season. While speculation exists due to early struggles, MLB insiders indicate his job is secure, largely because he is in the second year of a contract extension and retains respect within the organization.
  • Contract Status: Cora is signed through 2027, and firing him would require paying out a substantial portion of his contract, roughly 10 million, making an immediate firing financially and strategically unlikely.

  • Support & Stability: Despite fan pressure and recent poor performance, key decision-makers, including Chief Baseball Officer Craig Breslow, have shown no indication of making a midseason change.
  • Future Outlook: While many fans and media members are calling for a change, it is more probable that a decision on his future would occur at the end of the season if the team fails to make the playoffs, rather than during the season."
 
It's way too early in the season to start talking about firing managers. The Red Sox could be in a totally different situation next week.

Just look a the Cubs. They started out terrible but now have won 9 in a row and it's a whole new ball game.

Then there's the Mets. The highest-paid team in baseball.....

Here's what their fans are looking like already too although they finally broke their losing streak.

The Red Sox are in a tough division but they finally broke the "Curse of the Bambino" a few years ago so there's still some hope.

Well enricosonic, your beloved Mariners begin a three game series against my St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium tomorrow night at 7:15PM Central time (which I think is 5:15PM Seattle time).

It will be George Kirby (2.97 ERA / 3-2 W-L) vs Andre Pallante (4.05 ERA / 2-1 W-L)

The Mariners are 11-15 on the season and the Cards are 14-10.

The Cardinals usually start out the season good but it doesn't take too long for reality to set in and they start their decline. Their weakness this year is their pitching - especially the bullpen. They traded all their superstars over the past few years and jettisoned the few remaining last year (their payroll is over $60 million less this year because of it).

Ryan Helsley was their closer and now he's gone, so for the most part all they have left are youngsters and potential big leaguers with the exception of a couple decent vets like Jo Jo Romero. Their starting pitching is weaker too but Andre Pallante is one of their better pitchers, but can be hot & cold at times

George Kirby on the other hand is a young superstar in the making so you guys definintely have the pitching advantage.

I'm watching the Cardinals pre-game right now and they are talking about how good the Mariner's pitching staff is.

They just said, and I quote... "It's going to be a big-time challenge for the Cardinals".
