I know it bordering on heresy to discuss such things here, but:
My brother scarfed my Panasonic SX 650 decades ago, and recently my Dynaco Stereo 150 (which I built in the 70s) finally croaked. I still have a Nakamichi 410 preamp that's kicking and recently i recapped and refinished a vintage KLH Model 6 pair that i bought in 1976 and which now sound terrific.
I had put in Sonos system a decade ago to push music through a large house and after listening to my recapped speakers decided they deserved better and starting looking for an integrated amp somewhere between $700 and $1500, which I figured should open a lot of doors. While I tried out an Audiolab 6000A Play as a Sonos alternative, the Play-Fi app was a disaster - sent it back (that said, the sound was excellent). I think I will use a new Sonos Port to feed streaming, since the app is unbeatable, it is wifi, and also Airplay compatible. Since this will be in my office, digital inputs a plus (USB, optical) as I have a few thousand pieces of music on my computer (some hd), smaller form factor also a big plus. Will need mm turntable input and at least one extra. Had also considered NAD D3045 for convenience, Cyrus One or One HD, and Quad Vena II. Somewhat concerned about service issues for the British smaller brands.
Any serious advice or suggestions?
