Modern speaker upgrade, please help

Nice looking room. Terrific speaker. I bet you will like them for many years to come. They will get even better with more break time period. Congratz man, always a thrill to receive new speakers. If you can, try new placement with your speaker, 2 feet from front wall and little toe in. Anyway keep posting

Thanks. I tried them 2 feet from the wall and liked them better. Unfortunately, that puts them too far out in the space. I had to compromise with a foot out from the wall. I wish I had a large room to put these in because I know they would get even better. I have three large rooms; a living room, a den and a family room and will not risk putting expensive gear in them. I have a very active 3 year old boy. Just a bad idea. Maybe later...:yes:

Oh and btw you have the same stands as i have. Fill them with sand, you'll understand thier true value.

I used over 50 lbs of sand filling those stands. It made a huge difference. I really like the stands.

Any other comments/opinions with regard to the Reference 3A Dulcet bookshelf speakers? Would these pair well with an Apollo-R and Brio-R combo? We have no Reference dealer here in Hawaii so listening to them in person is not an option at this time.

If your considering a small bookshelf speaker, and SQ is your priority, you really should check out Reference 3A's Dulcet bookshelf. There's a comparison with Rogers LS3/5a's ($3,000 in the second-hand market) on Chojiro creative forum. It's 12" high, weigh's 15 Lbs and goes down to 48 hz @ -3 db.. and it is still within your $2,000 Budget. Unlike the LS3/5a's the Delcut was designed to provide Near full range sound in a small to med size room while retaining the qualities of a good monitor.

My Reference 3A Veena II's dissapear and every song sound's different. Not Warm, Not bright unless their suposed to. All the great music I've heard 1,000 times before sound's new and exciting. They replace my Pro-22 Monitors that due to a dead room in my new townhome, which absorbs treble like a sponge, diidnt leave a realistic tone, but are a great sounding speaker too in the right room. While I'm using rather expensive gear, IMO the Reference 3A's will still sound good on something like Rega's Brio-R with a good source like your Turntable.

I loved the Reference 3A Dulcet bookshelf speakers. They are excellent small speakers that play much bigger than they look. Well built too. I don't think you could go wrong with them. I heard them matched up with the biggest Arcam integrated amp and CDP. They probably need a sub to get that last octave in, though it isn't a necessity depending on how you like to listen to your music.
