I've always liked the clean simple lines of the Pioneer P-10 although this picture is about as close as I'll ever get to owning one

My entry is my main table which is a fully restored and cleaned Pioneer PL-55X and although not the top end table of all time, sounds great with the Shure V15 Type IV cartridge teamed up with a JICO SAS stylus. It does a fine job of spinning any LP I want to hear. I'm at work so I don't have any major specs handy on it. :D

Dad's Garrard Zero-100

Dad bought this TT when I was about 8 and it has held up pretty well. I learned about music listening to it. "Zero" referred to Garrard's groundbreaking attempt to solve the tracking error problem using an articulated arm that allowed the headshell to swivel slightly as it travelled across the record, thus maintaining zero tracking angle error all the way across. Downside was a massive heavy tonearm. I've always wondered what they could have done with a carbon fiber tonearm if they'd had those in 1972.

Not the best on the market but it was special to me and reminds me of Dad's technical view of things. Pic is pirated since my sister has the turntable in another state.

t-260-800.jpg

Granted there are easily 150 new turntables out there that I lust after. But the new one from Teres, the 260 gets me kinda hot. A Hadcock 242 Export and my V15 would round out the package. 58 pounds, idler drive and a pretty plater......

Garrard Zero-100

From a personal standpoint I enjoy controversy. Well at least causing it, participating in it, and trying to see it to a conclusion. For that reason, I was pretty happy when I was given a Garrard zero-100. I began to read about the tone arm and all the differing opinions that people had regarding the success or not so successful design. Here is an excerpt from an article:

"I trust that some of the readers of this page may actually remember the Garrard Zero 100 turntable, whose tonearm used an ingenious mechanical linkage to minimize tracking error"
http://www.quadibloc.com/science/freq03.htm

Anyway, thanks to many AK members, I was lucky enough to restore this TT to what I consider it's splendor, adding a new cart, and now just beginning to revel in the nostalgic cloud of my misguided youth. Definitely a keeper if for nothing else but the history (well it sounds pretty good to me!).

Cheers

I picked up a Kenwood KD-3055 recently - I think the heavy fake white marble "anti-resonance" base is cool, and it should go well with my other Kenwood gear. Pics lifted from the web because I'm not at home...

Dual 1228, early 70's.

Workhorse and very simple to operate.

Just a nice vintage TT, nothing fancy.

I don't own one but if one ever crosses my path for a reasonable $ I will. The Well Tempered Record Player is my holy grail turntable.

This is a table I really like the styling and the build quality. This pic taken from a completed auction and it has been watermarked with the owner's info so I hope they don't mind me using it here. The Luxman PD-441 also available with a wide left side allowing a second tonearm mounting location as the PD-444. This high mass-electronically supported platter puts much less weight on the motor than if it was not supported. Quartz-locked, two-speed with indicator lamp color to show the speed. The tonearm mount to easily replaced metal plates with markings to allow exact replacement of the plate on the table when switching tonearms. Plates were available with a number of different cutouts for various tonearms.

It just kills that a friend of an AKer just picked up one of these with an SME III for $25. Dang what a table. And the dust cover is 4mm think and engraved with the Luxman L. What a nice piece.

This is my pick! My Thorens TD166 MKII. Not because it's the most eloquent example available, but because I was basically PAID to take this and make the transition from Mid-Fi to Hi-Fi. I did it voluntarily mind you, bought 6 decks for $100 and this one wasn't working. For another $40 I was able to source the electronics it was missing to get it going. Four of the other five decks will easily fetch my total investment. If only all deals could go this way! :thmbsp:

My baby! The first brand-spankin'-new turntable I've ever purchased. A Music Hall MMF-5.

Currently spending most of its time spinning the Music Matters Blue Note reissues on 45.

Sweet!

my Sony PS-X7 heavy, quiet, carbon fiber tonearm and a motor that just maintains speed no matter what

Markel Playmaster, Model 75

This is a turntable/changer with RCA jacks out.

The rollers hold up the record as the underside is played. They then flip out of the way, the record drops, and the top side is played.

Dual CS-5000

It's not mine, but I keep searching and occasionally bidding.

I love the looks of the simple, clean lines and the real wood veneer. Oh, yeah, the specs aren't bad either.

Too many good ones already listed, Teres especially, really want to try one one day. I would like to try an origin Live myself one day soon :), but I guess I should be happy with what I have ;). The Gyrodec is a work of art as well. These images aren't mine, but that Gyrodec MKII is pretty much like mine exactly...except I have the gloss black plinth.

I would like to submit for consideration my Philips 408. It has the original Philips 400 cartridge.

Hardly the most prestigious or best sounding turntable in the world or even that I own - heck, it might even be the most pedestrian TT in this thread. However, I like it because it is the first TT I bought (new, back in 1973 when I as 15), and I had saved for a long time from lawn-mowing and other odd neighborhood jobs to be able to afford it.

It still looks the way it did when new and I still use it on occasion.:thmbsp:
