I'm embarrassed to admit that everything is still in boxes after the move. All of my music listening has been digital since we left CA but I'll definitely start working on the music room next month. I keep telling myself it'll be so much easier when this heat over with!
I have all the Kallax shelving planned out from IKEA and the backer board that I'll attach from Home depot. Just have to buy everything and get busy!
I have even more boxes of records in another room. :crazy:

Oh no, priorities thats all.
When we moved my system was the last thing to install, why? Well I wanted to be with no pressure of any other kind and dedicate to set up it again, so we understand you!

Styli (0.7 mil) are widely available. But like in the video above, the original and aftermarket styli tend to be somewhat harsh.

I rebuilt the styli, so instead of just providing compliance (vertical for groove contact and horizontal for modulations), provide both compliance and damping. The result is a well defined dynamic sound, but also well controlled; amazing texture, detail without harshness. It’s a tip-sensing cartridge, reading the stylus tip movements at the tip, instead of from the rear of the cantilever.

1953 recording, 1956 pressing: (My table is above and behind my speakers, so not the best pickup from speakers.)

Nice sound, I like it sound well defined.
The granpas wall clock is nice too! I have one but in the other room.

The shim or other flat thing to find center on a round thing is a good old trick. I use it fairly regularly. People who have never seen it before look at me like I'm nuts when I pinch a thin pocket scale under a drill bit, but it works.
