Moreplay Preamp by Bottlehead.

I just finished one also. It was a fun build. I wish that they had a diagram showing the pin numbers for the rotary selection switch. But other then that, it was pretty simple. Sounds great, and it's real fun rolling tubes. I've also have a Bottlehead Mainline headphone amp. Also very nice and sounds great.
Rotary selector is simple, IMO. 4 poles with 3 stops. 4 center lugs are the output to amplification, the rest are 12 lugs in total divided in banks of 4.
hope its help.
Andre.

Looks good! I tried to glue a base like that once. What a mess! I'm hopeless at wood and metal work. Maybe I'll buy some cheap pine and practice...
I watched Doc B’s video on how to assemble the base a couple times. My experience was exactly like his. I’m somewhat surprised it went as flawlessly as it did. Blue painters tape is surprisingly strong under tension.

dont need to buy it. cheap pine, 2x2 plywood, 2x4s can be found curbside, depending where u live. i cant stop building **** out of junk. sometimes it looks better than the real furniture i own. pretty easy, esp if u have the scrap to do lots of roughshod trial and error.

I know I said I’d start my own post but AG has been very accommodating. This might be my last on his thread.

You need to look more closely. It’s a metal plate sitting on a wood frame.
no i dont. i wasnt interested in the wood box. i was looking at the metal plate, and as you know i was asking about the metal plate. it has very, very nice lookin cuts.

damn, brother. howd u make those cuts?
I think you need to look at the Moreplay on Bottlehead to understand it has a metal plate and wood base. I made neither.

i dont think i do.

more importantly, youre customizing it. youre documenting it. im watching.

i think you need to say, "thank you for saying so, but i didnt make the cuts in the metal plate; it and the and the wooden box came from bottle head with the cuts."

The only “customization” is I’m painting the metal plate and putting a poly finish on the wood base. I owe you no thanks as you’ve contributed nothing other than confusing statements.

my only confusion is believing you made the cuts in the metal plate; that and my admiration for your work do not merit an ounce of your rudeness.

I installed the first 6V6G on my Moreplay.
this is the first time I can hear a difference immediate. Really nice robust sound, great for vocals IMO. I don't like t judge or review that quick, I think to make a review you need to listed for a while and then listen a different pair to have a good point of view.
So far I tested Sylvania 6v6gt, Hytron 6v6gty and this pair 6v6G. all are different flavor and IMO for different music.
It is interesting, using the same cartridge you can expand the sound gamut not spending too much and the life span is way longer than a stylus.

Cheers from Fla.

i must say, i understand why folks spend so much time getting the right tubes for the right system. im utterly fascinated.

Great job on the Moreplay, last month I demonstrated mine at the Burning Amp fest, received many complements. I also use 7C5 and 6AQ5 tubes.

I built one of these two years ago, and it was a blast. I bought a few sets of tubes and landed on Brimar 6v6g coke bottles. I take them out, roll some others in for the heck of it, and sooner or later I'm back with the Brimars. They sound excellent.

I'm thinking about building a Moreplay to drive a Magnavox 9300 I restored and modified some years ago to lovely success. Has anyone here done the upgrade kit as well? Of course it will be impossible for me to resist upgrading caps and such as well. ALPS potentiometer, perhaps?

The Moreplay is likely a really nice linestage. If you are interested in DIY, there is a very long thread here about 6V6's used in a linestage.
