Most miles you got out of a car

2005 Toyota Sienna, bought it with 50K miles, sold it with 330K miles. It was looking good and running strong when I sold it.

1998 chevy astro 3.4 6 cyl. When I bought it the mileage was at 212,000 I used it for work. When I finally parked it for good it was still running at 340,000 paid 950 bucks for it. Now I’ve moved on to a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 cargo van. 3.9 V6 was bought new by a local school system and was used to drive around the county to teach adult literacy at different locations. I doubt it’s ever been drove over 70 mph. 47,000 original miles. 1,500 bucks!

We don't put all that many miles on a car per year .. compared to most. We've got a Pontiac Vibe that we bought new back in 2005. It's has around 98,500 miles on it now. This is the most amount of miles we have ever put on a car. Prior to that I bought a Suzuki Esteem (Better Call Saul car) new back in 98 and sold it at 98,000 miles in 2012.

I got 468,000 out of a Lexus ES-300. I still sold it for a premium at that point because it was still nearly like new. No I'm scheduled maintenance was ever needed.

1984 Mercedes 300TD 347,000. Still running with good compression.

1993 Pontiac Grand Prix. 167,000. Bought new. Had for 28 years. Ran perfectly. Spent about $900 on tires. Tree fell on it two weeks later.

1995 Grand Am. 220,000. Sold it.

Those vibes are corollas. Recall back around '94 or so, would see u haul trucks/ trailers on the highways towing Lexus' with their front wheels on the road .... A grand am with 220,000...wow! Was watching a TV series on dangerous consumer products made throughout history in the US hosted by Henry Winkler. they said there was a time where 30% of US vehicles either blew up or caught fire. Amazing. Edit: show's hazardous history

Yea 220,000 and ran good but started using oil. I think that they get a bad rap because people don’t take care of them.
Interesting story. Not more than 1/2 hour ago I happened upon a receipt for tires for that car. I was at another tire store at about 120,000 miles and told him that I wanted really good tires. He handed me paperwork to sign for real crappy tires. I told him that is not what I wanted. He told me that the car wouldn’t last much longer and I didn’t need the good tires because the car wouldn’t last past 150,000 miles. I gave him a dirty look and walked out and went to the other store. I bought two more sets from them.

2007 Hyundai Santa Fe
462,000 miles before I gave it to someone that needed a car.
They went a bit over 500,000 before it died one day.
They got rid of it before I had a chance to tell them to replace the alternator. That had happened to me a few times before.

I've had a 2001 Chevy Silverado 2wd ext cab for about 10 or so years now. The last time the LED odometer worked was about 7 years ago and it read 385,000 KM's (about 210,000 miles). I'm sure it must have at least 450,000 KM's on it now (about 281,000 miles). The engine runs like new and still has plenty of power. The 4.8 LS based V-8 is one hell of a motor, all I've ever done to it is changed the oil, haven't even changed a spark plug yet. The rest of the truck is getting tired and rusty but it runs like new. If I could buy the identical truck new I would, one of the best damn vehicles I've ever owned.

and what is the most favorite and least favorite car/truck that you've owned?

I liked my 98 Pontiac Grand Am that I owned (first car I owned with power windows) until it was wrecked in 04. Now I have a 98 Pontiac Sunfire which is still hanging on at 130K miles.

Small Hyundai I owned in early 90's was a death trap.
Chevy work van 200 k

My girlfriends dad got 607k miles out of his 1992 Mercedes 300D. We have an 87 model now that's at 190k but it's been turned into a weekend car.

Two favorites: my current Dodge Charger SXT+(2016 model) the perfect road trip car- big, comfy, plenty of power and great MPG. The most fun was my 1985 VW GTI- I put over 330,000 miles on it.
Two worst cars were my wifes 1988 Honda Civic and her 1992 Toyota Tercel- both way under powered and both were a PIA to work on. Hey Toyota, why put the oil filter directly above the hot exhaust manifold? Made a horrid smelly mess when changing the oil... freaking bad engineering.

370K miles out of a 1980 Honda Accord 5sp manual new, when it was hauled to the wrecking yard. Still running but began to burn way too much oil with no warning and figured busted a wring or two.

270K miles from a 1980 Mercedes 240D 3spd manual, second owner. Car was running perfectly well when I gave this to a friend who then traded this in after using it for a couple of years.

I already posted about my old 91 Astro work van I bought with 212,000 on it 340,000 when I parked it. Paid 950 bucks for it. Sold it for scrap and got 150. It lost compression was blowing oil out the dip stick tube real bad like a qt every 15-20 miles. I found a piece of rubber hose removed the dip stick put the hose over the tube and ran it over to the oil fill, stuck a grease rag around the hose to keep it in place and no more oil leak! Drove it another 10,000
No thats recycling!!
