Most overrated band?

Who's to say. Overrated by whom?
I see a lot of opinions here.
I would say an overrated band would be a band that was talked up then disappeared.

Are there that many people that go and see the stones or buy their music because they were told it was good?

I don't like them, but I would not say they are overrated.

This thread should have been "what band don't you like that a lot of people do"

I agree, and that is why I keep pushing my horse, the Bay City Rollers, as the most overrated band. They were heavily marketed, had a few hits that were written for them and then absolutely fell apart.

Many of the other bands mentioned here, whether you like them or not, fit the description of at least a very successful band that lives up to expectations.

'course, it's kinda hard to be objective about music - it's an emotional thing!

Quite a few of you guys seem to dislike Dave Mathews Band. I don't get it.

I will agree that all their best material never got/gets any radio play...
 
My own personal opinion about Dave Matthews is...he has a great band and when he is not singing they are ok. But the minute he opens his mouth...:thumbsdn: I know I'm in the minority but, I usually am anyway. To each his own.

Yeah it's just my opinion, I think they're just really bad. The ability to play an instrument does not automatically make you a musician, or at least a good one, also IMO.

A decade ago a girl I used to hang out with had a bit of, um, after-gig fun with them and she asked me if I thought less of her after the fact. Um, yeah!. And it wasn't because she slept with a whole band...but because she slept with a whole shockingly terrible band. Ewwwwwww. Man, they're as ugly as they are talentless.

Ok, too much information from my pseudo rock star days.

nickelback...and please don't kill me...the Rolling Stones. i can agree that GnR is overrated and Boston was terrible on all but their first two.
