Pretty much exactly what I'm thinking, you might want to contact him and mention that he needs to clean his zero key.

Maybe the provenance of a yard sale makes it more valuable?

Yeah, I guess if it had "authenticity" papers I would go ahead and drop the $100,000. Other than the scratches and scuffed dented wood finish, it is very Mint,
