Marantz 7 ($5000) 8 ($2500) 10b ($2000) EV X8 crossover ($100) REK-O-KUT ($300) = $11000. That leaves the Presto 825 Stereo Tube Reel to Reel for $17000, It is rare, yes. But not sure it worth more than a Studer

Don't forget the pair of EV speakers. Still pretty crazy, even at the lowered price of $25k shown on Audiogon.

What's the "65th Anniversary" bit all about? Confusing it with some reissue of the Marantz equipment?

Yeah, that was confusing to me as well. Could be referencing the 8b reissue from the 90s, but I don't see why there would be a 8b reissue with all of this other gear that seems to be true vintage Marantz.

Something incorrect in the ad is that it does not identify the tuner. It is a Model 10 or 10B; 10B is one of the Holy Grail tuners. If he does not think it is important, I will take it! I'll even pay the shipping :). Here is a link:

Just for you young folks who don't know the classics, the Model 7 is a preamp but says "Console" on the front. The Model 8 is a stereo power amp. There are some poor photographs of the individual components in the ad.

Listed under home theater? The seller may not be an audiophile but knows it's worth a lot. No feedback on Audiogon...

According to TAS, the model 7 was introduced in 1958, 60 years ago.

Maybe he should just swap with this seller to save space...

A dream Marantz system for me would be the 7C preamp, model 9 mono blocks and 20B tuner. The problem with the 10B and 20B tuners are that they would need some spendy work done to them to bring them back to what they should be. I missed out by several minutes on a model 8B working original amp 5hat sold for $150. I told the guy that sold it I would have given him more for it. Telling him what it was realy worth just made him sad.
