I grew up right next to the north portion of the Wasatch in Idaho, and have spent a lot of time skiing the Wasatch in Utah.
It really is the "greatest snow on earth". It's very light, fluffy, and dry. I think it must have something to do with the salt in the lake.

With my love of mountains, valleys and rocks of all kind, I wonder why I still remain in dumpy-ass Michigan all these years. (A few more years though...! We're actively researching places to move out west.)

The Wasatch was burning a bit when we were there a few weeks ago. Very, very dry.

It's been dry, I think fireworks were restricted during the Days of '47 Pioneer day celebrations while I was there.

Better do it quick though, the experience is changing rapidly.
Just the other day I got up early and got into one of my favorite fishing holes.
Some jerk-off walked right down and got right into my fishing hole almost right next to me!
Expressed disdain and left. Sure enough, when I saw the licence plate, my suspicions were correct...California.

Out of state outdoorsfolk pay a substantial portion of the budget for mountain states wildlife husbandry. Otoh, They can be a pita, but they do help to keep the Good Things going.

Hey Pio, have you ever heard the term "carrot snapper"?
That's what old Idahoans call Utahns.
Apparently when they first arrived, that was one of their only crops that made it, and they had to survive off of them for a season.(?)

Oddly, no, but I liked them raw a lot as a kid. Dam near turned me orange.
