Multiple amps on a speaker?

Because I recently acquired a whole bunch of gear, in what appears to be the best Craigslist purchase/deal of my life, I want to play around with setups and some questions have been coming up.
1. Is there any reason I can’t hook up two amps to the same speaker terminals. I want to see which amp sounds best through my AR-5s and other speakers, but would like to avoid attaching and detaching speaker wire over and over. I would only have one amp powered on at a time.
2. A few questions about hooking up more than one set of speakers.
a. If you have four speakers playing at the same time via one amp do you all find this affects audio Fidelity, especially if the speakers have different resistance/ohms? I want to run my my custom made faux “Voice of the theatre” speakers along side my AR-5s but I have no idea what they are rated because they’re custom made and I bought second hand.
b. Can you damage equipment when running different kinds of speakers simultaneously?

I’m just beginning to learn about the ins and outs of the more technical aspects of audio equipment so your patience and feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, you can easily damage equipment by running two or more speakers (especially with low impedence) if it isn't rated for it.

Ah I understand this now..apologies I didn’t do my due diligence before posting. After a morning of reading and video tutorials I understand the risk. Thank you.
 
There are some good switches available that will allow multiple amps to be connected to multiple speakers. Look up some of the ones by OSD Audio.
