Music Hall's DAC 25.2

A tube is required for the RCA out connections. The balanced outputs don't use the tube.

Enjoy!

If I connect this unit dirctly to a power amp will the volume control the XLR or RCA outputs? thanks.

Thanks for the review of the op amp mod. There are alternating opinions on the value of the discrete modification. When added to the cost of the MH it may not compare to buying a higher spec dac in the first place?

What makes the trade better is to use audiogd discrete op amps which are much less expensive than the burson.

Shout to Stout!

I looked at the audiogd website and did not find these op amps. Could you link us up? They will work in the music hall 25.3 dac, won't they?

I have had my MH 25.2 for about 10 years. Other DACs have come and gone. Not the MH. It sounds glorious with a Siemens 6922 NOS tube. It is beyond glorious paired with a single ended triode amplifier (6 watts per channel) driving my high sensitivity Klipsch Forte IV speakers. None of the other DACs I've tried over the last decade, no matter how sophisticated or expensive, compared with the magic synergy that brings on a beyond expectations realism from the MH 25.2, Reisong A12 SET amp and Klipsch Forte IV combination. All my power cable, interconnects and speaker cables are one level below the best Audioquest has to offer. Every bit makes a difference, but without the MH the degree of musical engagement would not be the same. It is a totally satisfying audiophile system for less than $10,000, the speakers and connectivity being the most costly.

Zombie thread, but I'll play. I have the 25.3 which allows for 96/24 via USB input. Since I used balanced outputs, I removed the tube.

For me, a no-brainer was replacing the Burr-Brown chip op amps with Burson V5s. I detailed that change here.

Zombie indeed. Thanks for playing.

How could I forget? I, too, replaced the op amps with Bursons, a no-brainer. You never know who will be looking for a used unit so I thought why not add my experience. And, btw, I also own the Burson Composer 3X Performance DAC. Quite good, but not the magic of the MH.
