Came across a friend thatworks with a moving and storage company, we were catching up on things and I told him of my vintage stereo collection. He responded by saying that the guy he works for has a small storage room full of stereo stuff and wants to sell it off. My brother and I went to see it and geewiz if they didn't have two big pair of JBL's, some funky looking Dahlquist towers, Mcintosh 2150 Amp, a pair of big watt Bryston amps, 2 yamaha amps, misc electronics, and an old turntable. The one set of JBL's are S-4 loaded 2 way L-45's, and the others are C-37 low boys made in the 50's.

We got the whole bunch for 300.00, and will be bringing the stuff home Monday.
I will post the pictures and see what all we were able to score.

I was able to look through the room but not get many model #s, the Dahlquist speakers are nothing I have seen, looked like a mid and tweeter behind see through metal screen and a woofer enclosed on the bottom. Shaped like an elongated pyramid tower, not sure what model or anything.

The big JBL's were around 36" tall, had a tweed type grill with an old style JBL badge, the grill was slid in from the side, there were wedges with screws holding the grills from sliding out. The boxes were regular plywood on the bottom, peeking in the grill I saw a big woofer with silver dust cap, either a horn or a port but hard to tell. The L45's had no grills but did have the grate type lenses that cover the horns. Cabinets are beat up and one woofer dust cap is pushed in.

It was a cool find and it will be hard to wait until Monday to bring them home. The Guy will be out of town Friday through the weekend or I would grab it all sooner. Pictures will be posted as I go through it, should be fun stuff!

The big JBL's are some I can't seem to find anything on, they were very dated looking as far as the emblem and grill material. I have no idea what they are so it will be like christmas on monday for me. :D

Can't wait to see images. With the JBL's make sure to include the terminal plate, often they can be identified by the connections, controls, etc.

The terminals were like the L45's with the Bi-amp dual binding posts, also the single knob for adjusting the highs. It will get get figured out Monday, I just wish I had the room to pull them out and identify them when I was there.

The Dahlquist will need a refoam. Easy to do. They sound great. They also need a fair amount of power. I ran them with an Adcom 555 which put out 200 watts. They were my favorite speakers for a couple of years.:thmbsp:
