Muting Issue Sansui 1000x

My 1000x has some issues.

  • In FM AUTO, the tuning meter is not working (stays at zero). The meter does work in AM.
I have ~ 10 ft. of speaker wire in the 2 top 300 ohm antenna ports. I've tried moving the distant - local switch on the back. It doesn't affect the meter and doesn't seem to affect how stations are received (much).
  • The FM Stereo indicator light doesn't work when muting is engaged (up position). Additionally, the signal is weaker with muting engaged. More volume is required.
When the muting switch is off (in down position), the FM Stereo indicator light does work and the signal is louder. I do hear static between tuning stations as expected.

I replaced a Sansui 661 with this 1000x and am not sure I like it better. My 661 has adequate power and seems to have a clearer soundstage with the B&W WP 1 Weatherproof Monitor(s) I'm using.

Hi spclmnky,
I am having a similar issue with my Sansui 1000X and was wondering if you were able to resolve your issue with the muting switch?
But my problem is when I use the Phono section. I have distortion and the left channel goes quite.

Appreciate any help.
